Professor Lin Xiang Xiong is an internationally renowned artist and cultural ambassador. Born in Shantou, Guangdong, China in 1945, he moved to Singapore in 1956. After receiving formal training at the Singapore Academy of Arts and furthering his studies in Paris, Professor Lin developed a distinctive style that merges Eastern and Western techniques, founding what is known as the New Nanyang School of Painting.
Rooted in Southeast Asian culture, his works vividly portray the lives of local communities while engaging deeply with themes such as war, poverty, and environmental degradation—reflecting his profound humanistic concern and the spirit of the times. His art has been exhibited globally, including at the National Art Museum of China and UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, earning widespread acclaim.
As both an artist and a scholar, Professor Lin has not only created a significant body of work, but also fostered East–West cultural exchange through founding the Global Chinese Arts & Culture Society. His lifelong artistic journey and societal contributions are embodied in the Lin Xiang Xiong Art Gallery—a culmination of his life’s dedication to using art as a bridge to promote peace and the power of culture.
